how do i find a JVC part #

i have a jvc stereo, model# MX-D402T, which has lost control of volume with front knob...the remote control works fine. The encoder is made by ALPS but has no part number on it. I believe the encoder is the most logical cause of the problem but cannot locate the part #...any help would be appreciated.
