Stage Production

Tomm Posted Nov 02, 2003

I want to know if I can use the DSR 300A to do a single camera shoot of a theater production with existing lighting or with adjustments in lighting throught stage control board?

I am producing a stage play and a behind-the-scene documentary about the making of the play. My objective is to give the documentary viewers a sense of sitting in the theater. I will shoot the show using a single camera stationed center of house without any added lighting package requirements; nothing beyond increasing the output of the lighting control board. My questions are purely technical and not aesthetic Do you know if this type of shooting is possible using a DSR 300A or is there another camera better suited for this task? Will 2000 Lux sensitivity and 3 x 6 DB Gain be enough to capture acceptable clear images from the theater house?
