Are the poems of D.H. Lawrence public domain?

I am about to make a recording of a musical setting I composed, which uses the text of D.H. Lawrence poem "Moonrise." By law, I think his work is considered public domain by now but I am not sure. Who would be the authority in this matter? If I needed to get permission to use it, whom would I need to contact?
