Re: Sony DSC F707 error e::61:10

I am having the EXACT same problem. I can't fix it. Now my focus does not work either, even manually. My digital zoom is not working, my focus is not working, and I am getting this error message of E:61:10. If anyone helps you, let me know. I am searching the internet for a fix and have yet to locate one.

  i was in LA all week for work and thur the error code came on.... shit!
  looked up a code on sony.com - no help
  found this forum - thank god
  two good smacks with the power off and poof....she works and the focus works agian... thank tou all at tech support .

    Yes folks...it sounds absolutely rediculous...but it worked for me too. Turn the camera off and give it two smacks and WA-LA the error message was gone. I started off with two pretty light smacks on the back of the camera and worked my way up to what I would consider two medium hits with a power down inbetween each double hit. It only took three attempts...but I was being pretty gentle in the beggining. If you look in the Ops. Manual it says you have to contact a Sony Dealer/Authorized Service Facility....it is a camera malfunction that you cannot reverse.....THEY ARE LIARS....he he he...The Fonz ROCKS!!!

    Thats amazing! My is about 3 years old and I have never had any problems with until today. I was so not happy but I got home and googled this problem and I be darn 2 smacks on the top of the LENs assembly unit they were hard enough to make the flash assembly open up. But I turned the camera on after and my zoom is working again. I even took some photos of my tabby cat. Thanks for the information.

    Flashbacks of my dad smacking the TV when vertical bars starting rolling. No kidding folks - this method works. I used the finger-and-middle-finger-flicking-the-side-of-the-lens-barrel method. Perhaps some dirst in the lens mechanism?

      I got DCR-HC40 and smashing on the camera worked for me as well! I wish I could solve my life's problems like this!!!!

    Guess what folks February 2009 and this solution has worked again. Two light smacks (like swatting a fly) and it was back to normal. Anyone know how to correct the screen color that is "too blue"?

  E:61:10 - The Most Stupid Error
  
  I am from India. I have DSC T33. I had the same problem - E:61:10
  
  I went to Sony Authorised Service Center. They told me that we have to replace part no-16. The estimated cost was 10200 Rs (~200$)! I decided not to repair it
  
  Then I saw this site and decided to give a try.
  In the beginning i smack slowly because i was worried.
  after trying 10-15 min it was still showing E:61:10 error
  Now i was engry
  Then i hit it really hard in the back (LCD side) and when i start it the error disappeared!!
  
  Now it works GREAT. NO PROBLEM AT ALL!!

    I almost gave up. Your post is the only one regarding DSC T33. I thought it may only work for other models, but after I read your post I hit it a little harder over my leg on the LCD side and now it works. ???????

    I have the DSC-T7 I smacked it a whole bunch of times, nothing! Then got upset and threw it on the ground... It bounced up off the concrete floor and it works great now...lol

  We own a DVD403. My wife and I took turns smacking and whacking the camera first against our palms and then against the table. The solution worked after the second round of abuse. Thanks a lot for your advice. This is a testament of the power of the internet vs the evil multinational empires!
