Having connection problems between my Pc with Adobe Premier Pro and my sony dcr-ip55e

Hi I am having technical problems with my video editing program and camcorder. I have installed Adobe Premier Pro and also installed a fire wire to capture footage into Adobe Premier Pro. Unfortunately I am getting no response from the Adobe that the camera is attached at all. I am wondering if there is some sort of driver I can download which fits this model camera ( Sony dcr-ip55e) which will help the program identify the camera. It has been successful with Pixela image mixer the program which came with the camera but this program is pathetic. Please help. Thanks
