A Note on JVC DV Error Codes

Jvc error codes along with a message to "Remove & Reattach battery" do not indicate a problem with the battery. This message is simply telling you it is necessary to remove the power source to "reset" the error. If the error is still "sensed" by the camera it will be displayed again. E-01 indicates a loading problem E-02 indicates an unloading problem E-03 indicates a reel rotation problem, can be caused by using 90 min tapes and some lesser quality cassettes or a machine malfunction. It usually results in "eaten" tapes. E-04 indicates a problem with drum motor rotation. Can be the cause of excessive "head cleaning" messages, block or pixlelated or "half screen" playback. E-06 indicates a capstan motor problem, Usually results in "eaten" tapes. None of these problems are usually firmware or operator problems, they generally are hardware related and require service by qualifed service people. Hope this little explanation helps
