The XL2 will arrive early next year. it will still be miniDV but with new compression codecs that will produce better image quality. It will have the LCD screen on it and XLR inputs. Canon thought about going to HDV (HD encoded mpg2 on miniDV tape) like the new JVC cam but finally decided to develop the new dv-codecs. They will also provide real progressive scan with improved CCDs. Now where do I know this from? Don´t ask me... |
