Anyone heard anything about the Canon DM50 Directional Microphone

I want this Canon DM50 Directional Microphone for my Canon XL1. Has anyone used it? Is it good for both ambient sound as well as directional sound for interviews, etc.? Can it be detached and used? Does it fit onto other cameras? Does it have a single EP input or two-EPs like the Canon mike.
