Emerson 19 inch EWC19T2 turning off by itself

Televison troubleshooting

I have a 19" combo televison. When there is a tape in the vcr sometimes it causes the televison to turn off by itself. I have only had this television for 2 years. Once I take the tape out it seems to be fine. This time the tape broke while I was taking it out and now the tv keeps turning off by itself. It was turning off immediately when the tape was in but now it will play for about 10 minutes and turn off. Is there anything I can do to correct this problem?

I'm having the same problem too. It just started today. VCR was stuck in the player this morning. I was able to get it out with braking anything. Tonight, I can't watch T.V. It plays about 15 seconds and than it shuts off. You can hear the VCR making some noise, but nothing is in there. Let me know if anyone finds a solution. jab

Everytime I used to try to record something on tv, it would turn off. I would press the record button then about 5 seconds later it would turn off. Recently, it wouldn't eject my video tape. My tv would turn off 5 seconds after I turned it on while the tape was stuck in there. I felt that because the tape was stuck inside it kept turning off. So I plied the tape out (it broke) and I thought that would fix the problem. Nope! Everytime I turn the tv on, it turns off 5 seconds after. It says "EJECT C" on the top left corner of the screen. I think I also broke the built in VCR player when I plied the video tape out because now I can't put a tape in. It won't go in. I know that didn't help you solve your problem, but i'm just sharing my own personal experience. However, mine is probably about a 13 inch screen.
