Disc tray won't open

Disc tray

My disc tray won't open. When i push the button to open it, the blue light flashes and the motor makes a noise like it's trying but nothing happens. Any suggestions?

I don't know how to fix but i know the source or part of it anyway. If you open the playstation where the disc tray is there is a black plastic top in the middle of that there is a white plastic disc with a piece of metal in the middle, if you pull/pry up on the little plastic thing while pushing the eject button then it will open and if you keep a game in it at all times then it should always open at least it does for me.

Sorry, I forgot to say that it was on a ps2.
