Belive or not, the smacking method works !
I have just tried on my TRV-22 and the zoom is working fine now ! I should have tried it before my daughter's birthday, which is now very badly recorded (no zoom or image adjust), but I didn't try google until now...isn't it funny ?

P.S. My smack wasn't very strong. Just a couple of light hits near the lens barrel.
