Sony PS-FL7II

Rich Posted Mar 04, 2005

Question about Sony PS-FL7II. Were they very good or did they have flaws?

I got one of these from a friend. IT had a worn out needle so I renewed that. I have significant distortion in one channel, as I recall it's the right side but I may be mistaken as I haven't used it for many years. I'm wondering if I should waste any more time and money trying to cure this symptom or were these units prone to this. The guy I got it from is a heavy smoker and I spent some time cleaning smoke residue off of the sensitive moving parts inside. Any help wouls be greatly appreciated as I hate to see an apparently good unit go to waste.

I've had one since I bought it new in 1989. I haven't had any trouble at all with it. You might start by checking your cables or connections between the player and receiver. I live in direct line of the phone company sending microwave transmissions out of town and had some feedback issues years ago but if I recall correctly, it was cured by using top quality cables and insuring the connections were good.
