Re[2]: no power on SONY SLV-E700

Similar problem: we unplugged the VCR to move it. Once we connected the power and TV again the standby button/light is flashing red/green/red, etc. Also, the display is flashing, so some power must be getting to the unit. Is this the same problem, or something completely different? Any ideas how to fix it - we can't actually get the unit to switch on. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    No, it's not a similar fault. The PSU in my VCR is dead (a faulty diode in the switch-mode circuit it seems). Your description seems more like a "logical" problem, maybe a sensor (microswitch) or some mechanical part that's jammed/not in the correct position? The flashing led and display might be a code for a spesific problem (you would need access to a service manual to find out what it means if that's the case). That's my best guesses...
