sony dsc-p72 sliding lens cover won't close

I have a sony dsc-p72 whose sliding lens cover won't close. There is no obvious damage. Is there a way to remove the logo plate covering the lens cover to see if something is preventing the lens cover from sliding closed? Other than this problem, the camera is working perfectly.
