Cant transfer video to computer

I have a JVC GR-D30U miniDV camcorder and i recently tried to transfer the video to my computer. I bought the IEEE 1394 PCI card and the connector however when i connected and restarted everything it still dident recognize the camera. Ive searched everywhere to try to fix this problem. I believe it needs a driver for the camera but i cant find it anywhere. what can i do?
