Take your DCR TRV-19 into a fairly dark room and look into the front of the lens assembly. You should see an iris similiar to that in the human eye, and it should be open. The iris will appear like two triangular devices that interlock. Now shine a flashlight into the lens and the iris should close. If such is the case you have a problem with the CCD or related circuitry. If the iris is not open when you place the camcorder in a dark room there is more than likely a problem with the iris motor or associated circuitry. Eric
