I have a digital 8 camcorder and the dv in/out port no longer works.

My dv in/out port on the camera is not working anymore. It may have been damaged when dowloading video to my Sony VAIO computer. I was using a 4 pin-to-6 pin firewire cable and, since the 6-pin port supplies power to peripherals that need it, it may have sent a spike back to the camera and ruined it. I have heard this requires the replacement of a P.C. Board in the camera. Do you know anything about this and where I can get a board? Thanks
