JVC TV Model AV-32950

shadow 2inch line at top of screen

My tv screen displays a shadow line starting at the top of the screen coming down about 2 in. I have checked cable connections, unplugged and replugged the unit to no avail. If it is a screen adjustment, where is the adjustment located?

The PIP pix moves into the distorted area but because this area is only a couple of inches from the top the PIP pix is just barely in the area and hard to tell how distorted it is. I only see the lighter shade at the top of the box. Is the problem as you see it something that needs to be taken care of by a repair man or can I take care of it?

The shadow is visible at the Video Input but is not in the PIP mode. Pix does appear folded over but is not the bottom screen folded over it is the top folded over. Tapping has no effect. I have checked all connections to make sure each cable is connected securely.

Does the problem appear with Tuner Input and Video Input? How about PIP Mode? Does your OSD or On Screen Display show in this area? Try to isolate as to whether the problem is internal or external. Does the pix appear folded over, like part of the bottom portion of the pix is seen superimposed over the top? Does tapping gently on the chassis have any effect? Eric

The shadow at the top of the screen is not a black line it is clear but seems to be a reflection or like a crack in a glass.

If you're referring to a dark black band about 2" down from the top of the screen this is usually caused by a problem in the vertical deflection circuit. There are filter capacitors in the circuit and apparently one has failed. Eric
