NO PICTURE

Hi, My camcorder has no picture as if I have left the lens cap attached. Although I do take the lens cap off everytime I try to record or snap photos, I cannot view my sceen. I only have a blank view with the focus indicator blinking. I have pressed the focus buttom many times and followed troubleshooter for viewing and focusing but nothing. I have this other blinking indicator that I do not know what it is. It is located right next to my LP/SP indicator and it is a dash then letter h, then two dashes and then letter m. -h--m. What is that. How do I get my viewer to work again. When I playback I just get the sound no picture. Please help. Do you know of an electronics center near my place that can repair this?
