On Timer Flashing on JVC AV32704/703

I have a JVC AV32704/703 that is 21 months old. While watching TV last night the TV quit and the On Timer started flashing. I unplugged the unit and it continues to do the same thing. I looked at the manual and it says to contact service. I hate to spend $100 to $300 to have someone come and diagnose and repair $500 TV. I was wandering if you may have any suggestions? thanks for your help! jc
