JVC GR-D290

Kris Posted Jul 02, 2005

Condensation, cassette holder

I have a JVC GR-D290U. I am getting the "Condensation, operation paused, please wait" message. I did as the troubleshooting section of my manual suggested and left it sit for over an hour and I'm still getting the message. It is not unusually humid today or anything. Also, I am having trouble getting the cassette holder to stay shut, with or without a cassette in it. Can you help? I just bought the thing last night! Thanks!

I hope by this time you have your problem fixed, but I recently learned of a way to do a hard reset on my GR-D30 unit which fixed a couple of problems with my camcorder. Do this on a clear table with good light. Remove all power, and battery, then remove the 19 screws (yeah, it's a lot), to split the unit open. Do not completely separate the unit, and be careful to remember what screws go where, since there are three different lengths. In the back of the unit there is a white tipped ribbon connector. Carefully disconnect the cable (I used needle-nosed pliers and wiggled it out), wait about 3 minutes (to be safe), then reconnect and reassemble the unit. This reset procedure fixed the tape door not closing properly, and the dreaded "condensation error". I don't know if it will fix your blue screen problem, but I did notice a lack of JVC provided answers when I was trying to find a solution for my unit. Good luck.
