Where did I buy my Sony Trinitron KV-25FXR1? I need a detective!

Michael Posted Jul 22, 2005

There is a dispute over who owns my TV, and I don't have proof of ownership. I know that I bought it in another country. Somebody please help me trace the history of my TV.

I stored my Sony Trinitron color TV in a friends apartment, here in the Philippines. Now my friend claims that it is his, and that he bought it himself 2 or 3 years ago. I have no doubt that it's mine, but I don't have any paperwork to prove it. Not even a photo of it in my own house. He also has no proof of ownership. The only idea I can come up with is to trace the model and serial number to determine where and when it might have been purchased. I am pretty sure I bought it around 1997 on a US military base in Turkey. Since the military exchange system is worldwide, they could have acquired it from Sony anywhere in the world. I'm checking with the local Sony office, but time is of the essence. The serial number is 521394. So far, Sony says that this model was probably made around 1997 and that it would not have been available in any store for at least the last several years. This is a terribly stupid argument, but it is straining a friendship. Thank you to anyone who can provide a definite fact that I can use to prove ownership (either way!).
