Troubleshooting 6 CD Changer

I recently replaced my CD changer with the exact model, purchased new one on Ebay. My old changer was saying bad disk every time it loaded a cd. After installation of the new unit I will load the magazine and hit the CD button on my stereo and you can hear it load the first disk. After about 10 seconds I get the message "No Remote CD". Did I get ripped off with this new changer or is there some way to reset the player? Please help!
