power failure with an rca stereo video recorder

A couple of weeks ago when i turned on my vcr, the screen which displays the time ect sort of flicked,went blank and then came back on. This again happened everyday it was used till yesterday it just went dead with no signs of power-it is only about 3 yrs old so would expect a little more out of it yet(i think it may be a power supply problem)Is it fixable and how do i do it?
