Same problem. I contacted JVC. It is called a "lens cap error". Described as a "sofware glitch". The only warranty coverage is under 90day labor--no parts involved. Good Luck

I just took out my camera out of storage after being overseas for the last 8 months. I have the same promblem and I also got mine from singapore. I would like to know what you ended up doing. I don't want it to be a waste of money. Please let me know if there's anything I can do.
