JVC GR-DVL815U Problems Times 2

Donald Posted Sep 07, 2005

Need help with JVC GR-DVL815 problems with two of the same type cameras. “USE CLEANING CASSETTE HEAD CLEANING REQUIRED” and "E04: Unit in Safeguard Mode, Remove and Reattach Battery"

I have two (2) JVC GR-DVL815U Mini DV Cameras. I have had both the "E04: Unit in Safeguard Mode, Remove and Reattach Battery" and the “USE CLEANING CASSETTE HEAD CLEANING REQUIRED” I have followed the instructions in the manual and what I’ve found on line. I still have the problem with both cameras. What makes it worse, I purchased two extended life batteries (by the way, the batteries work fine). I need help. I have already disappointed my 13 year old daughter once when I thought I taped her graduation capturing her dance routine and her friends’ farewell comments and well wishes only to fine out I got nothing. The whole time there was no error message while I thought I was taping. I NEED HELP. I have used the following cassettes: Fuji Film; Panasonic; Sony; TDK; and Maxell. All which worked for a while then problems. I used one camera until the problems became to aggravating. Then I switched to the second camera only to find the same problems as the first and I had never used the second one. Donald HELP!!! P.S. I have the two cameras because I purchased one for someone (using my own money) who never picked it up from me.

I've been having the same head cleaning problem since I bought it 3 yrs ago and just last month I was trying to record the air show in Chicago and the e08 code (safe mode came on, just like you. Has anyone responded to your question on this forum. It's a shame I spent around $850 3 yrs ago for a piece of crap. Anyway please reply if you figured anything out. Thanks!
