My JVC GR-D30U digital video camera lens went white then black and now the camera does not work.

I was filming a closed door with my JVC digital video camera. When my 2 year old son opened the door, perhaps letting more light in, the viewer of the camera went white and then black. Now nothing shows up on the viewer when I film. It as if the lens cap is still on when it is not. Playback and sound still work, but I am not able to get a video image. The camera has been used fewer than three hours of taping in the two years we have had it, so nothing should be worn out. Is this camera repairable?
