The screen displays LENS CAP but the cap is already removed. There's no image, we cannot record.

i had the same problem with my camcorder....sent it here in JVC singapore...and they fixed it up without a single cent to pay... i think they're accepting the fact that there is something wrong with this model...send your cam to any authorized dealer and ask them for help....

I used the website at that Carie gave and called the number and she gave me an address to ship it to, no charge for the repair and said it should be back in 2 weeks. Now, I'll believe that when I see it, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Melissa

Basically you are screwed if you are over the warranty period. If your camera is still under warranty, send it immediatly, cause it'll take probably months before you get it back and it'll probably work for a few days until it breaks again. This line of products, from what I have read on the internet appears to have a defective part "CCD Chip" and I think is on all the GRD line of camcorders that are experiencing the same problem(s). I have a GRD90U which I think I'll use for a door stop. Sorry...
