I too think i have the same problem you guys are having. I went to sony.com and registered the camera for repair. They provided me with an event Id and instructions on how to send the camera back. There is a base cost of US$171 that could be charged. It depends on a number of conditions however, if the camera does not conform to these conditions, they say the cost could go up. They do not charge you until they assess the camera first. If the cost is higher then the US$171, they say that they will e-mail a quotation consisting of parts and labour.
The camera should reach the Sony Repair Centre next week or so. I'll keep you guys updated.
