Re: Never Buy any Panasonic Digital Camera or Camcorder

Alex Posted Oct 17, 2005, in response to:Davy

Sony does the same thing, they don't provide level 3 service manuals for complex boards even to ASC and advice to swap the boards. If you can resolder bad connections, that's good for you, but that doesn't require you undestanding fully how it works. And for warranty repairs Panasonic would supply them totally for free. I am not sure about Panasonic, but Sony labels all fuses even on those boards, so this shouldn't be a problem too. Now with lead-free solder we will see more and more bad connections, since it's easier to crack and with BGA chips it will be real nightmare. But it's good for our health and for salespeople because people will buying more new cameras instead of fixing. Switching to another brand is not a solution because all companies have similar problems and practices. The bottom line, if you can do a work with limited access to information, that's better for you since you offer unique service that others can't do, that should work to your advantage. And if companies were making perfect products, you would be out of work. Thanks. Alex.
