DVD drawer just doesn't open. JVC TV set: AV-20FD24 Chassis(?) M5J06 Manufactured in THailand July 2003DVD

The DVD drawer simply does not open, either with remote, nor with button on bottom face of TV set. When press "open/close", in about 20 seconds, there appears on the screen "No Disc". There is a slight clicking sound from within the appliance. Any suggestions short of taking it to an appliance repair shop?
