Re: JVC HR-XVC25UDVD/VHS

Try putting a known good cassette in the unit and put the unit in "CUE" mode. Do this for about 15 minutes. If you notice improvement in the playback picture then the unit does require cleaning. Eric

Hi, Most of the video noise has cleared up, but I am still having an intermittent problem with tape "skipping". For example, if I record a one hour program, several times during playback, the tape will skip or momentarily flutter and the counter will lose time. As a result, the one hour program will read as 56-57 minutes on the tape counter. I tried various VHS tapes (old and new) but the problem persists. Years ago I recall making an adjustment on a vintage VCR which I believe fixed a similar problem. I think it was a screw which controlled the tape tension across the heads? Do you know of any such adjustments/fixes for this JVC unit. Thanks, Jack C.
