Re: Error code 31:42

Cathy Damuth Posted Nov 29, 2005, in response to:Neville

I don't know if this will work on yours or not, but I have a trv520 that was doing the same thing, giving the same error message. I finally tlkd with sm1 that had me (1) turn the camera to camera mode, (2) turn to off mode, (3) remove ac adapter and battery, (4)wait 15 sec (5) turn back to camera mode and leave there for 15 sec (6) turn back to off mode, and (7) after 15 more seconds put battery or ac connector back, then (8) turn on and start taping or playing. It hasn't messed up again yet and I had it on record for 35 min straight and then play for 30 min str8. I f you can do this on your equip, maybe it will work. He called it a factory reset.

Cathy, Your recipe has not worked for me. I have a TRV330. It had worked fine for three years, then it started messing up, showing the C:31:42 error code EVERY time I try to record or play anything. Already changed cassettes, memory sticks, etc. I tried your "factory reset" a few times, but hasn't worked!!! Any other idea? Thanx, Federico
