DSC-P9 will not focus at full aperature.

When I turn the camera on, or zoom all the way out, the camera will not focus. One step zoomed in and it's fine. It appears as though the camera goes beyond where it should go on fully zoomed out. Any thoughts on how to adjust the stopping point?
