Sony KP-53XBR45

How do you clean these lense?

Is this a hard project and can this be done at home? Picture is better than alot of TVs sold today but over the years its losing that bright crisp look. TV was bought around 1995 and this has never been done. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Are There any sites that will walk me thru this? Thank you, Ron

Hello, I just recieved one of these TV's from a relative and noticed that my picture quality was a little faded. I figured that was how many of the older Projection TV's would show and never thought about anything else. A couple of days ago I was thinking about how to troubleshoot the internal speakers (I have a problem with all four speakers where no sound is produced, but I can hook the TV up to my A/V receiver and it works just fine), I took off the rear cover (about 20 screws) and noticed a bunch of dust covering everything. The first thing I did was get a baby wipe and a soft dry cloth and cleaned the 3 lenses. I then turned on the TV and WOW! What a surprise! It was bright and sharp and clear from edge to edge. I can even see the picture when I'm standing parallel to the screen! I suppose this is all you will need to do, however, I am going to go one step further and remove the dust layer on all the other components also. Hope this helps. -G
