Safguard mode will not shut off

I have a JVC GR-SXM735...It sat for some time and after finally getting it charged when it turns on i get an E04 Safeguard mode error. I tells me to disconnect and reattach battery which i do but it keeps happening. What can i do besdies throwing it out...
