Re[2]: DCR-TRV 725E C:31:42 error - the solution?

DeWayne Rector Posted Dec 25, 2005, in response to:Tom Vance

Did you ever find an answer as to why simply taking the camera apart and putting back together again fixed it? I had the same C31:42 code on my Handycam DCR TR7000. Before I searched the web, I took the camera appart to clean everything. It already looked clean as new but I cleaned it out anyway. I then put it back together and now it works fine. Cleaning it might have fixed it but I highly doubt it. I think there is something else. My guess is that something inside the camera was sticking. Taking the camera apart was enough to break this stuck part loose. That's my best guess. DeWayne

Hi. read my other reply. It is the connection and allignment of and on the assembly. When you look at the parts, when you load a tape and the casing is closed, some steel sensors will close or open some circuit under the assembly. I presume the moving lever did not make the proper contact and this causes the cam to fail. I looked at my faulty returned parts by sony and strongly suggest that this might be the reason. That is why it says remove tape and load again. hoping that the sensor will connect again. also the repeated action might cause the sensor to be cleaned and thus unsuring a connection.
