HomeI get an error saying my lens cap is still on when it is not actuall on. What do I do? This may be a first for me. I just received this DV camera today as a gift and when we went to power the thing on I got an error that says your lens cap is still on. I checked and the cap is definately not on. What gives? what can I do to correct this problem? I have not even sent in the warranty card but the person who gave this to me is from a different state. Any ideas would be great. thanks.

Okay, same problem for me. JVC GR-DF450u Mini DV camcorder. We've had it four months and haven't even shot an entire 60 minute tape full yet. The camera suddenly stopped delivering signal from the CCD to the LCD lens or the range finder. The computer diagnoses this as "lens cap on". I haven't tried the work around that was suggested yet and I have yet to hear back from JVC's service department via e-mail. I am calling their service department tomorrow to see if I can get some action on this. Clearly this is a recurring defect in the cameras. A broadcast engineer where I work says that it's likely that the power supply on the IC board has short circuited the video amplifier. Has anyone been able to get JVC to cover the camera out of warranty? After all this thing is ANCIENT. It might have a whole 50 minutes of wear on it. this realy does work cheers i had the same problem |
