Sony Error c:13:01 (as pertains to my mvd cd300)

Sony MVC-CD300 error message C:13:01

I dug up some information after coming across this site and seeing many posts related to a _C:13:xx_ error message as relates to many Sony products. I myself have a Mavica CD300 that has this error message on it. After digging around for days and scouring many of the pages at Sony I finally came up with the explanation of the error message: The media (in this case a CDRW) is unable to be read or written to. I was able to read the CD in my CDRW drive on my PC and was able to retrieve all the pix on there so no problem there, but the camera couldn't read the disc. Finally I used Nero InCD to format the disc as a CDRW which took about 45 minutes. Once it had finished I put the CD back in the camera, the camera says unknown format or something to that effect and so I go into setup, format the CD in the camera and 'voila!' back in business. If you have Windows XP and a CD burner in your PC you should be able to just format the CD with Windows. Any other versions of Windows would require a program such as InCD to format the CDRW (so it "works just like a floppy") and once it's formatted you should be able to format it in the camera again. I'm guessing that when my kids were using it to take pictures while either finalizing or unfinalizing the cd they probably bumped it or something which caused the cd to skip and create an error on the disc. Formatting it with the PC and then again with the camera wiped all errors off the CD and fixed my C:13:01 error! Hope this helps anyone who has this issue. Matt

I MADE IT!!! AFTER ONE WEEK OF HARD TRYING I HAVE ALL MY PICS BACK! I CAME BACK FROM MEXICO WITH LOADS OF PICTURES AND AS SOON AS I ARRIVED BACK HOME I REALIZED THE CD INSIDE MY Sony Mavica MVC-CD300 COULD NOT BE READ BY MY CAMERA OR ANY COMPUTER. ERROR MESSAGE " DRIVE ERROR C:13:01 ". I TRIED CD-DVD DIAGNOSTIC AND IT RECOVERED PART OF THE PICTURES. NOT HAPPY, I TRIED BADCOPY PRO V 3.76 (DOWNLOADED TRIAL VERSION FROM CDNET.COM) AND IT RETRIEVED ALL OF PHOTOS!!!!! REALLY HAPPY NOW. WHEN USING BADCOPY PRO YOU HAVE TO DO A CUSTOM SCAN: UTILIZE "RESCUE LOST FILES ,MODE #2" ON EACH OF THE TRACKS OF THE CD. DON'T FORGET ANY TRACK! GOOD LUCK!
