My Sony TV..KV-36XBR250, LOOSES PICTURE & HAS GOOD SOUND

Al Lorenger Posted Jan 21, 2006

Thanx to Rav,[post..01/30/05]..starting an awareness protest against ALL Sony products...top of the line Sony high end on down. They should stand behind thier known defects !!!!!

I too will join RAV on this campaign. Why should us consumers be duupped into hign end purchases and be fleeced with high repair costs for inert flaws. There are just too many of the same flaws,on too many models. Where is the superb quality control that said "Sony" ? This is per Rav:.......Lets do it,its our RIGHT ! I have created an email address - sony_no_picture@hotmail.com I plan to start with a single problem , the problem related to TV sets starting with 'No Picture and only Sound'. Anyone who has this problem with their Sony TVs and who wants to participate in moving a big corporation to take notice of its customers should send an email to the above email address with the following information- Name email address Sony Model and the text 'My Sony TV Has a picture problem' I have contacted the Senior Director for Home Audio and Video - David Migdal. I am not too sure I will hear back from him, but I plan to keep escalating. Once I have a nice big list of people I will call up the following people and send emails to them and also to the news media and consumer protection groups. If in the mean time you want to register your discontent I suggest you calling Sony at 858-942-2400 and asking for David Migdal.

My Sony KV36XBR400 has the identical problem. No picture but sound. If the TV is warmed up for a while, it occasionally comes back to life... I believe it is bad D board. I have taken the board out and tried to replace components and look for bad solder and crack board. No luck so far. I wanted to find out if anyone knows where I can find a replacement D board. I prefer not to get the board refurbished (Sony's recommendation) since it may not solve the problem reliably... This is my last gasp before replacing the TV. It is a shame since the picture quality is pretty nice... Thanks, David ps Can you please copy my email address in your response since I am not sure how to get back to this bulletin board.

I guess the symtoms are: we just lost the picture but we have good sound. We will recycle the on/off switch at either... on the remote or on the TV...wait about 5-7 seconds and we'll get the picture back on . This is a KV-36XBR250,about 5-6 years old and with the usual normal use.I did let it set for about 15 minutes, turn it on and counted 10 red flashes. Now I have the whole wall outlet off. Maybe the TV will reset itself. I appreciate any feedback[01/21/06] Al Lorenger...alorenger@aol.com
