Problems with JVC SR-VS30 and apple emac.

Pratik Tailor Posted Jan 21, 2006

Need help desperately!!

We have several emacs that are running Mac OSX 10.3.4 and 10.4. We have a problem that none of our tape decks are being recognised as a device to import video footage from. We are using iMovie 4.0.1 and iMovie 5.0.2 and on both systems we get a message saying no camera connected. In the system profiler under firewire tab it says no devices attached, but when we plug a camera into the port it will detect the device. The strange thing is that we have been using this feature fine for several months to import video footage from a mini DV tape to our macs and as of today they are not working. Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

This is an old posting but I have had the same problem. It seems to be something about the SVHS mode. I can't remember exactly what but I think that this mode has to be turned off in order for you to be able to do what you want. I am currently having problems with my deck and wonder if you have had the same. Was working fine, then I put a tape in it and it thought for a few seconds and then turns off. The same on the VHS side. I saw the same item on Ebay with that same description. It must be common with these decks. Has it happened to you?
