jvc connectability between AV-32950,HR-A57U,XV-N310B

A friend at work cannot seem to succesfully connect the DVD player with the VCR, and TV. The TV and VCR have worked together fine,until now. She has not ever used the AV Compu link cable. I had told her to basically use L/R audio and the yellow cable for video input, then select between the sources accordingly. she said that there was no picture from the DVD player, only OSD messages. Any thoughts are surely appreciated. Matt Sook
