Sony CCD-TR9

Tape does not move, but power OK

I have been using my Sony CCD-TR9 on a fairly regular basis lately. The other day, I put a tape in to view. When I pressed play, the tape broke (I think more because the tape was old) and the camcorder stopped. I ejected the tape and put in a recent one. Now, when I push Play, FF, Rew, or try to record, it sounds like it starts to move, but the tape does not move, then it stops and the flashing "needs maintenance" icon appears. The tape will load and pull up to the drum and it will unload and eject OK. It just won't play, FF, rew, or record. I took it substantially apart and everything looks reasonable, the drive belt was OK. Any hints? Thanks.

This model uses the (A)mechanism which is known to have the servo board harness with problem..Ribbon cable which connects DRUM,CAPSTAN,LOAD MOTOR AND SENSORS..This ribbon would have to be totally resoldered ,This usually fixes most intermitten symptoms with mech..
