It sounds like the power supply. It happened to my kid's unit as well after years of use (pretty normal item to go bad ESPECIALLY if you don't have it connected to surge protector). It cost about $110.00 at the time and haven't had any problems with it since. Spend the $110.00 and don't replace it with the cheap stuff out on the market, they just don't work as good as a Sony and they are so cheaply made it's disgusting. Good luck,
