GV-DRM Camera clicks twice when plugging in or inserting battery. Does not recieve power or activate.

I've been having this trouble only a few days, as I've had this camera for quite a few years now. Suddenly, after leaving it on the charge overnight, I go to turn the camera on. Nothing. I check the other "on" positions(manual, automatic, playback). Nothing. I unplug the camera, and plug it back in, just in case. "Click. Click." Okay... I take the battery off, clean the contacts quite well, and put it back on. "Click Click". Hmm. I'm wondering just what the case is in the situation. The cam is old, but should still at least function properly. It sounds to me like a battery issue, but I could be wrong, and I don't want to go and blow 60$US on a hunch.
