Re: SONY DSC-T1 LCD SCREEN REPLACEMENT PARTS

A.J. Posted Mar 23, 2006, in response to:Thomas D

hey folks I had a problem with my dsc-t1 screen as well. My problem is not the same as many of yours, my screen is not physically damaged, but it wouldn't light up. I must have dropped the camera at a party some night, the lcd did NOT crack, but the next day when I tried to turn on the camera, the green light came on but the lcd did not show a picture. Also when I pressed the shutter button nothing would happen. I thought oh great I need a replacement screen, but I didn't want to shell out the cash so this is what I did. 1.Bought the smallest phillips head screwdriver I could find, Took out 6 screws from the casing (2 on each side 2 on the bottom) 2. Took of the front face off the camera 3. Yes that little flat head pin fell out, I just placed it back in the square hole below the lens on the left (the hole is round on the other side) Regardless this pin will always rattle. I have no idea why sony put it in. 4. I found the 3 bands that connect the lens apparatus to the rest of the camera. One of my bands (the middle one) was slightly loose and the black bar that snaps down on it was in the upright (open) position. I simply pushed the band in as far as it would go, snapped the black bar down over it and prayed that would do it. 5. Put the camera back together, put the battery back in the right way, and turned it on, Voila, I couldn't beleive that was all it took, i was just about to sell it on ebay for parts This might work, might not for you, definitely voids the warranty!! Sony service no good, I hope this helps someone.

Yes if you drop it one of the cables may become disconnected as you described. As long as you dont scratch anything inside the camera and as long as you put that pin back, Sony wont know youve been in there and your warranty will be just fine. =) Thomas
