E:61:00 Turn on and off the power again

Raj Posted Apr 02, 2006

To fix problem E:61:00, with sony cybershot 7.2 megapixels p 200.

one evening i switched on my Sony cybershot 7.2 mp p200 and E:61:00 started flashing on the screen. after a while I got worried and swicthed it off, but the lens would'nt go in, as it usually does. when i switched it on again, it said turn off and on power again. I switched off and on for millions of times. I also tried to charge it, took of the memory card, tried to connect it to my laptop, deleted a few pictures of the memory card(to check if the fault was because of no space in memory card or something). but unfortunately nothing worked. then i looked at the '2meter drop' solution. though i was very afraid to do it, I dropped it from a little height on my thick carpet. it didnt work. then, I pressed the lens back in forcefully, pressed the back of LCD screen with my palm 2-3 times. I switched the power on. YAY it worked this time. its such a relief. must try this. thanks for advice folks.

I have a digital Sony videocamera with this error e: 61: 00 I put myself in contact with the people of Sony in the U.S.A. and they do not give solution me, single say to me that that contacts with them to send the camera to me to repar it. In my city I put myself in contact with the official technical service of Sony and aside from receiving to me they gave back it and walked, after one week did not walk but. and above they received much silver to me U$S 70 not to do anything to him. It follows with he himself error, does not make center when I pledge it

Unbelievable but true. I went through the same procedure, and it was fixed. Remember to turn and push de lens in, not just push. Then drop the camera on you carpet and the magic has taken place. THANX!

Thanks to this thread i managed to fix the problem with my DSC P100, first fixed a locked gear problem and occassionally have to use a bit of pressue on the lens whilst powering on to avoid the turn on turn off message appearing. Saved me forking out for a new camera for the time being. This is the second SOny this has happened to for me, wish i'd come across this previously but my next digi cam wont be a Sony!

www.fewin.com/sony/sony.htm check out the above site. This should fix your cam. Even works for the Sony Mavica MCV FD 73 I believe the error: E:61:00 is a lense related focus problem. It seems to apply to alot of Sony Cameras. Hope this helps.

www.fewin.com/sony/sony.htm check out this site for the mavica FD73 solution. The problem is the lense focus adjustment motor. Better explained in the above web site. The sudden impact of the camera frees up the adjustment mechanisms. Thus the error: E:61:00 disappears. I just fixed my Sony Mavica MVC FD 73.

I don't know how you figured this out, but THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I tried everything. On and off over and over again. I even forced the zoom back in - but to no avail. When I forcefully pushed the zoom back in and pushed on the LCD screen like you said (I still don't know how you got to this conclusion...) and WA LA... it works again. Thank you so much. This forum is excellent!!
