Camera viewfinders just quit while sitting in camera bag.

I have a JVC GR-D70u and get a lens cap covered message that stays on for about 10 seconds then dissapears even though the lens cap isn't on. Then the manual focus icon starts flashing at the bottom of the viewfinder. The rest of the screen is just black. It will record sound but there is no picture. Worked when I put it in my carry bag. Took it out next time and doesn't work. I have read about many others with same problem on same and other models.
