I had the same problem. Bought the camcorder 2 years back and now the display is blank. I took it to the sony service centre and they told me that the CCD block is faulty and asked me to pay. After a day they came back and said that i no longer have to pay as this part is under warranty. looks like that this part is a factory fault.
