Re: SONY DSC-T1 LCD SCREEN REPLACEMENT PARTS

Alex Posted May 27, 2006, in response to:Thomas D

I too have a Sony Cybershot DSC-T1. It suffered some water damage and the LCD screen currently does not function. There is some discoloration on the screen and it appears as though there is a crack in it, though it appears as though the crack is inside the screen. It is still capable of taking pictures, though on some outdoor pictures I've taken there seems to be a light blotch in certain regions of the pictures. My question is similar to some of the others that have been posted. Is it more cost-effective to have it repaired (I assume some repair shops will charge an arm and a leg to have it even looked at), or sell the camera as is? How much would you offer for such a camera? I can send you pictures of the camera if you would like. Thanks!

Hi Sorry, I stay away from water damaged cameras. Sounds like your LCD is cracked and your lens is damaged from the water; two expensive parts there, and its hard to say if the rest of the camera is ok or not because of the water. You can sell it on eBay, probably get $50+ for it. I wouldnt bother trying to fix it. If you want to stay with a T series camera, get one with protective glass over the LCD screen, that way it wont break if you bump it. www.darntoothysam.com Thomas
